'Everything is vanishing, but your heart'

Meet the Band Monday: Kevin Bianchi

Q: If you could have dinner with any musician or artist (living or dead), who would it be?

A: If I could choose anyone to have dinner with, I would choose to have dinner with Elvis Costello. He has an amazing knowledge of music and songwriting and I think we could have a lively discussion about a number of interesting topics. Two geeks talking for hours about songs, what could be better?

Q: How many bands have you been a part of in your career?

A: I have been a part of a number of bands, most…

Meet the Band Monday: Brian Bianchi

Q: How long have you been playing guitar?
A: I have been playing guitar since freshman year of high school.

Q: What style of music do you find least inspiring?
A: Opera.

Q: If you weren't in the Chestertons, what style of music would you play?
A: I would put together an EDM band, with a heavy dose of tribal rhythms and droning tones. Some mix along the lines of Morcheeba, Portishead, and Explosions in the Sky. Either that or a country band.

Q: What are some of your favorite places to visit?
A: I love…

Meet the Band Monday: Justin Hartman

Q: How long have you been playing the bass?

A: About 20 years... I stopped counting! Guitar is my first and primary stringed instrument, but over the years I've spent a lot of time playing bass, too.

Q: What makes a song 'special' for you?

A: When something about the song -- the lyrics, the melody, the harmonies, the feel, the production -- resonates with me in a unique way. I can't articulate precisely why, as it varies from song to song and artist to artist, but some songs just vibrate with your soul…

Behind the Music Q&A with Kevin Bianchi

Question One: What is the history of the band and how did it form?

The band 'officially' formed in the fall of 2015 after Brian and I completed work on some demos and decided to really pursue making music again with dedication after a rather lengthy hiatus. Justin Hartman has always been a dear friend and someone who we've always turned to when recording and performing music because he is an outstanding musician and a thoughtful collaborator. Over the years he has been a part of almost every project we…

Behind the Song: Waiting for the End

Songs are often very difficult to describe. Each listener hears and interprets a song in a very unique way. I am humbled and inspired by what the listener ‘hears’ and feels in my songs. Their interpretation is often so much more profound than anything I could have ever imagined when writing the song. Making a song ‘your own’ is the real power and beauty of art. It is also what motivates me to continue to write and pursue honest songwriting. I never approach the songwriting process with any agenda or topic…
